Peter Kazanjian arrived at Camp Adventurewood during the summer of 1986 as a camper. Now, 33 years after originally joining the camp, Peter serves as CEO. Over the years, Peter has developed a proven track record for seeking out and hiring the most qualified and charismatic counselors in Southern California. He supervises the Class B Commercial Driver's training for all the camp's senior counselors, thus ensuring that only the best drivers are behind the wheels of the camp vans. Peter also oversees the camp's daily operations. Whether it be working with to ensure optimum pool conditions, or personally selecting amicable ponies for the horse trails, or arranging for the necessary archery and canoeing awards for each camper, Peter makes sure all the camp's activities are safe and thoroughly entertaining. Peter holds a BA in Business Administration from the University of Southern California. His wife (Natalie) and their 3-year-old daughter (Caroline) can be found helping Peter each summer!

Our Program

Camp Adventurewood limits the number of admitted campers in order to offer a greater variety of activities with more individual supervision. While at camp, children are placed into various groups according to their ages. Each group is composed of a dozen campers. Two counselors are assigned to each group of campers. Senior counselors are hired on the basis of ideals, college records, maturity, knowledge, driving records, and overall experience working with children. Junior counselors are hired on the basis of leadership, character, attentiveness, and dependability. Our counselors love their jobs and look forward to returning every summer! Camp Adventurewood is proud that our 6:1 camper-to-counselor-ratio is one of the very best in all Los Angeles county. (If you child has any friends or neighbors the same age also enrolled in camp, we will make sure that they are placed in the same group.)

Camp Location

Our base camp is at Arroyo Park, located on Stoney Drive in South Pasadena. The shaded areas and open fields of Arroyo Park provide the perfect atmosphere for most of our camp activities. From there, our campers journey throughout the scenic Arroyo Seco for horseback riding, canoeing, archery, and various treasure hunt excavations. What to Bring

Unless specified otherwise, campers should bring their own lunches (preferably packed in disposable paper bags). Camp Adventurewood provides ice water during lunchtime and throughout the day. Campers should wear their official Camp Adventurewood shirts, shorts, and tennis shoes. They should also bring a backpack containing a swimsuit, towel, and disposable water bottle. Official Camp Adventurewood wristbands will be provided to each child by their counselors each morning.
